Although the Hungarian Export Credit Agency is not a global player due to its portfolio and the size of its capital capacity, its activity is still remarkable when the diversity of its product range, international activity, special operational framework and role are taken into consideration – said Gábor Szőcs, Chief International Officer at EXIM Hungary in an interview to TXF News.
“Though neither our client portfolio nor the total volume of our transactions approach the figures of the major European ECAs, there is no reason to be ashamed of our competence and range of services. During our history, we handled credit, guarantee or insurance transactions in more than one hundred countries of the world; currently we execute active transactions in 55 countries and we are able to provide financing and insurance solutions in 131 countries.”- stated Mr Szőcs in the interview.
Gábor Szőcs also spoke about at length about the international relations of EXIM: “We are members of the Berne Union, the international trade association representing the global export credit and investment insurance industry. We are proud of the fact that in 2011 Budapest hosted the General Meeting attended by 84 member companies from 73 countries and in the autumn of next year the Annual General Meeting will also be held in Hungary. (…) In the past five years our international relations constantly expanded and our responsibilities also increased in this field. (…), for two years now, EXIM has represented the Hungarian standpoint in the EU and OECD working groups dealing with export credit issues”.
In connection with funding and financing opportunities provided to Hungarian companies, Mr Szőcs also stated that EXIM is also able to finance green- or brownfield investments in close cooperation with commercial banks and its working capital loans also has an prominent place in the bank’s portfolio.
