EXIM Hungary is the official export credit agency of Hungary, specialised in international trade, foreign market expansion and foreign investment. It has also been operating successful domestic credit programmes for many years.

EXIM Hungary is the joint entity of two legal persons, the state-owned Hungarian Export-Import Bank Ltd (Eximbank Ltd) and the Hungarian Export Credit Insurance Company Ltd (MEHIB Ltd), operating within an integrated framework which allows us to provide both financing and insurance facilities. With our professional knowledge, experience and international relations acquired over our almost 30 years of operation, we have helped to bring Hungarian products or services to nearly 150 countries around the world via our financial instruments.

Since 1998 we have been a member of the Berne Union, the global organisation of the export finance and insurance industry, and in 2021 EXIM Hungary was elected by the organisation as a member of its Management Committee.

Our mission is to support domestic enterprises as a financial engine for the global success of Hungarian exporters and with the help of innovative financial solutions to provide them with a kind of passport to promote their foreign market success, to strengthen their presence and expansion in foreign markets. EXIM Hungary is one of the world’s export credit agencies and thus – being the Hungarian player in the global institutional system – our operation is governed by the relevant OECD and European Union regulations.

In addition to expanding the domestic business activities of companies, the services we offer are designed to cover the entire range of export activities with banking and insurance products – such as current assets and investment financing, financing of FDI projects abroad, equity financing through our Hungarian and international investment funds, buyer credit, discounting, export credit insurance, loan and commercial guarantees – from pre-export supplier processes, through manufacturing and production, to entry and sales in foreign markets. We prioritise the achievement of climate goals and a sustainable future, so we not only apply ESG considerations in our own operations, but also contribute to our clients' sustainability-oriented developments and investments with subsidised financing solutions.

We at EXIM Hungary believe in the strength of Hungarian businesses and strive every day to support them in their efforts to achieve success.

Our total assets amounted to more than HUF 2,000 billion in 2022 and our loan portfolio exceeded HUF 1,600 billion, with nearly 90 percent of our customers operating in the SME segment. Our key partners are domestic commercial banks, and we finance our clients primarily through them – in strategic cooperation – in the framework of refinancing schemes. EXIM Hungary – similarly to commercial banks – manages resources from money markets in the broader sense in addition to the capital provided by the owner and finances its operation from domestic and international bond issues and bilateral loans.
